Product Description

The Aquilion ONE Family of CT systems feature advanced dose reduction and image processing software. Developed based on Toshiba's long-standing commitment to improving patient safety, these features ensure delivery of the best possible image quality at the lowest possible dose. These software enhancements reinforce Toshiba's guiding principle of ALARA for every patient.

Adaptive and Integrated Dose Management

In order to achieve the highest quality images at the lowest possible dose, the Aquilion ONE Family implements an array of adaptive and integrated dose reduction strategies. These strategies are implemented at every stage in the scanning process from patient registration through data acquisition, raw data and image reconstruction.

Patient Registration
  • The system prompts the user to select the appropriate protocol based on patient age, weight and exam type
  • Dose is displayed on the console prior to scanning for operator confirmation and validation
  • Aquilion ONE includes the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) XR-25 Dose Check requiring dose notification and alert features
Acquisition
  • Integrated XYZ mA modulation is scanogram-based to automatically reduce patient dose
  • Active Collimation limits helical over-ranging, reducing dose delivered to the patient on all helical scans
  • Variable Helical Pitch** (vHP) changes the helical pitch automatically from an ECG gated to a non-ECG gated exam, saving dose, IV contrast and time
Raw Data and Reconstruction
  • Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction (AIDR) adaptively targets image noise, this iterative process can be used to lower patient dose while maintaining spatial resolution and image texture
  • Quantum Denoising Software (QDS) reduces image noise to optimize image quality while lowering patient dose
  • Boost 3D™ improves image quality and lowers dose by selectively reducing noise and streak artifacts from those areas where it is needed
Active Collimation

In Helical scanning, exposure is needed before the start and after the end of the planned scan range in order to reconstruct images at these positions. This over-ranging requires at least one extra rotation, although only a small portion of this data is utilized. Active collimation synchronizes the width of the x-ray beam at the ends of the scan range to the clinically useful area needed for image reconstruction. By eliminating exposure that is not used for diagnosis, patient dose can be reduced.

  • Aquilion ONE ViSION Edition is a Dynamic Volume CT scanner with the Industry's largest detector
  • 0.5 mm Quantum Detector, 320 rows with 640-slice reconstruction
  • 16 cm z-axis coverage expands functional and anatomical capabilities
  • 78 cm bore accommodates bariatric patients and interventional procedure
  • 0.275 sec rotation
  • 100 kW generator

Every Aquilion CT system features the benefits of Toshiba's Quantum Advantage, resulting in the industry's best image quality, no matter which CT system you choose from:

  • Ultra high resolution scanning
  • Industry's thinnest 0.5mm slices
  • Uniform image quality with 350 micron isotropic resolution
  • Best low contrast resolution of 2mm at 0.3% for lowest dose imaging
Low Contrast Resolution

Low Contrast Resolution 2mm @ 0.3%. Any measurement of radiation dose must be viewed in the context of its associated image quality. Low contrast resolution (LCR) is the only standard image quality metric that combines a measure of radiation dose with a measure of image quality performance. The Aquilion CT family has continued to lead with superior low contrast resolution.

Toshiba designs embrace open network standards to facilitate easy integration in the widest variety of network environments, complying with DICOM and IHE standards to assure standards-based communications protocol between network systems.

Aquilion CT—DICOM
  • DICOM CD-R and DVD-RAM—Provides long-term storage media for valuable image data. During re-examination, physicians can access stored images for reference.
  • DICOM Print—Exports images to DICOM-compliant printers. A virtual film function lets the operator preview the final print and adjusts its composition and presentation for optimal print quality.
  • DICOM Storage Commitment, Query/Retrieve—Operators can archive images to a network and retrieve images from past examinations for review and as reference map images.
